Dan and family moved to Lennox Head from Central Australia late 2002 and are pleased with the move.
Dan trained in medicine at Newcastle NSW and followed this with postgraduate general practice training in Newcastle and country NSW. This time included special skills posts in drug and alcohol medicine and in community paediatrics.
Dan has since worked in the Solomon Islands and Torres Strait, developing experience in tropical health issues. This was followed up with a master’s degree in public health and tropical medicine (James Cook Uni), and a master’s degree in applied epidemiology (Aust Nat Uni). Along with further research and training in tropical and Indigenous health issues this gained him recognition as a specialist in public health medicine.
As well as his work at LMC, Dan works part time for an Aboriginal health service in Ballina and advises the Northern Rivers Division of General Practice on public health issues related to general practice.
His clinical interest areas include cardiovascular risk reduction, diabetes, asthma, tropical medicine, preventative health promotion, evidence based medicine, Indigenous health, family medicine.
