Dr Christopher Mitchell
Chris has worked in the Lennox Head Medical Centre since 1990.

He attended the University of Newcastle and received the Bachelor of Medicine in 1987 (B Med). He trained with the Family Medicine Program of the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) completing his training in 1991. In that year he received the Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Dip RACOG) of RACGP and the Royal Australian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RACOG), after extensive obstetric training based at Gosford Hospital.

He has worked at Hospitals in Sydney, the Central Coast and the Northern Rivers and became a Visiting Medical Officer at the Ballina District Hospital in 1991. He was on the Ballina Hospital Trauma Team with certification in the early management of severe trauma. He was the Chair of the Ballina Hospital VMO council following Dr Hughes' retirement until 2000 and remains active at the Ballina Hospital and is able to provide inpatient care for patients as required.

Chris became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1993. He was the NSW rural Representative on the NSW faculty board for some years and is currently the Chair of the RACGP's Rural Faculty and the Vice-President of the RACGP. He has been involved in the Royal Australian College of General practitioners Quality Assurance and Continuing Education Program since 1996 Chris also sits on the National Practice Standards Expert Committee of RACGP.

He has been involved in General Practice Education as a Supervisor and as an examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Fellowship since 1996. Currently he chairs North Coast General Practice Training. The Head office is in Ballina just down the road.

Chris has been a Work Cover Accredited Medical Provider since 1997 and is able to provide examinations for spray painters and hazardous chemical users. He is also experienced with all aspects of workers compensation injury management and rehabilitation.

He has an interest in the prevention and management of skin cancers with experience and training in skin cancer surgery and also in Diabetes management and the management of lung and heart disease.

Chris has helped establish cardiovascular and respiratory Rehabilitation programs at Ballina Hospital and across the Northern Rivers.
