Management of early Prostate Cancer
Surgery by Radical Prostatectomy versus watchful waiting

A trial or 78 men under the age of 75 with localised early prostate cancer suggested overall survival for both groups was the same.

Radical Prostatectomy reduced death from prostate cancer.

Performing radical Prostatectomy on 17 men with early prostate cancer would save one life from prostate cancer over an eight-year period.

Complications include
  • Urinary leakage 49% vs. 21%
  • Weak stream 21% vs. 44%
